I am the Music Specialist at
West Clayton Elementary School.
Bio:
I was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, and am a product of the Palm Beach Public School System. After high school, I earned a B.S. in Music Education from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida, a proud "Rattler" with an emphasis in Vocal Music. My music certification is Grades K-12, with most of my teaching career serving in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. It was while serving as Lead Teacher over a M-DCPS Middle School Visual-Performing Arts Center that I earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova University in Broward County, Florida.
In 2007, I relocated here to Georgia, and began teaching elementary music in Fulton County Schools, then transferred the following year to my current position here at West Clayton Elementary School. During my years in CCPS, I was called upon to teach for three years as an extended day music specialist at our Clayton County Public School Sr. High School Performing Arts Magnet (now Stilwell School of the Arts), teaching private vocal lessons, music theory and beginning piano lab. It is my pleasure to serve the students at West Clayton Elementary School. I am also currently serving in my 3rd school term as our District Elementary School Lead Music Specialist.
Class Expectations:
- Enter the music lab in ABC Order
- Enter silently (as if going onstage).
- Enter with hands by our sides.
- Remain in the line and sit one student after the other in ABC Order.
- Leave chair empty for absent students.
- Sit with feet on the floor, hands in our laps and backs off the chairs (like polished musicians).
- Sit up straight and tall.
- Speak with permission.
- Listen and follow directions.
- Give best effort/participate.
